The most boring article about gratitude.

Updated: Jan 12, 2023

2020 and then 2021 so far have been years of extreme circumstances. The whole world has been reeling from the pandemic’s effects and we’re slowly supporting each other as we go through this tedious journey that might even take more from our end. On that note, here’s my personal story during this tumultuous time.

All went well when we had the first lockdown. It was a time period to catch up with everyone around us and all the shows were continuously dumped on Netflix, Amazon Prime, and other platforms. (Many series were just made for the heck of it...)

Our whole community on social media platforms was so concerned about our entertainment and half the clips are just insane. Our fast-paced world spoiled us with work, dark circles, and no time for ourselves. Eventually, the whole world turned into one weird video emitting machine. The second wave of this virus made it deadlier. However, a set of wonderful trends have also been re-ignited and re-enforced into our lives to balance all of the craziness.

Right now, life seems to be a blur at the brink of death while we live hand in hand with corona, a contagious virus tossed around like seasonings for Peri-Peri fries. If we don’t get to be magnanimous and glamoured up like the royalty and millionaires, let us at least live with happiness for someone/something we dearly love. Today, find some happiness and be grateful for the small things in life. (But don’t hop up and down like a mad kangaroo trying to feel happiness, it is alright to feel neutral!)

One thing or person or experience that has made you feel good today deserves to be celebrated. I’ll start and you could take the cue. I have three things to be grateful for today, however, while starting out I had just one thing so don’t be disheartened!

Things I am grateful for today-

  1. I had the most comforting coffee today morning.

  2. I am very glad I made my own breakfast today. (I am slowly getting better at cooking!)

  3. I am glad I could work out the conflict in a group project in a win-win manner! (Not gonna lie, I could wear this as my badge of honor and run on the road!)

It is good to start small and slow if you’re struggling at first be sure to take grounded amounts of pride in your work. Being avoidant or under-confident while being grateful about it doesn’t help. That doesn’t mean you get so arrogant that people hate you, it takes time, you’ll get there!

There has been so much to learn from the years 2020 and 2021. I am pretty sure I wouldn’t have learned without a catalyst as triggering as corona’s lockdown. Also, a sneaky fact: A heart with gratitude is a magnet for miracles! The best miracle is the optimistic thought process you slowly gain alongside this process!
