The African nation of Niger is currently plagued with violence, due to the successful Coup d’Etat by the Niger military, making this the 5th Coup since the nation’s independence from France in 1960. The President, Mohamed Bazoum has been detained while military leader Abdourahamane Tchiani now has charge of the nation.
Following the Coup, The Niger airspace has closed. Countless international citizens including two hundred and fifty Indians remain stranded in these dangerous conditions. The Indian Government has released an advisory asking all Indians in Niger to try to leave the nation through motorways and road routes.
The situation continues to be quite unstable, and any outcomes are difficult to determine.
