Fashion is ever-changing and ever-evolving . There is never a constant when it comes to fashion. New trends, new styles- every season brings something new to your closet. So, let me walk you down memory lane and remind you of some of the trendiest and most popular fashion staples of 2022!
The first trend was one that had a very quick rise to fame. I’m talking about power suits. In particular, the oversized pantsuit that took the internet by a whirlwind. Famous models and actresses have donned this power combo for not only a casual hangout but also events like the Oscars or even talk shows, like the Tonight Show. From Hailey Bieber and Emily Ratajkowski to my personal favourites - Blake Lively and Zendaya styled this combo in their own chic way. Layering simple gold jewellery and fashion sneakers is one of my favourite ways to style and level up this outfit.
Moving on, the second trend on our list are corset tops. This is a trend that gained an immense amount of popularity among influencers, celebrities, and fashion companies alike. Our fav Bollywood celebs like Kiara Advani, Bhumi Pednekar and Janhvi Kapoor among others have found their own unique ways to style corset tops. I think this was (and still is) one of the best tops to have in your closet. These are super versatile and super comfy and can be worn in many different ways to elevate your style. And let’s not forget the rise of corset dresses. Many celebrities were spotted wearing corset dresses that complemented their style and personalities. While Billie Eilish went with a more risqué option that looks absolutely stunning, Nicola Coughlan chose a softer feathered and beaded pattern that looked gorgeous on her.
“Diamonds are a girl’s best friend.” While that may be true, shoes are the second most important things in a girl’s closet. This year, we saw fashion enthusiasts wear platforms in various ways. Some went bold and experimented with loud colours like bright pink, while others kept it fashionable with the classic black. To go along with platforms, uggs gained some popularity towards the end of 2022, whereas some were still on the fence about it. Bella Hadid chose uggs as one of her go-to footwear to complement her ‘model off-duty looks’.
What do you think is the best way to accessorise your outfits? For me, it has always been basic golden jewellery and sneakers at any time of the day. This year though, I think gen z found its personal best in the form of the shoulder bags. Everyone can be seen styling these bags in at least one of their outfits and I have to say, I think this is by far one of my favourite trends of 2022.
Fashion can be overwhelming sometimes, especially with the rise of trends and influencers showcasing their stunning closets filled with artistic pieces of clothing. But we cannot always keep up and can feel like we are often missing out, but we must keep in mind that fashion is subjective and what a person wears based on their unique style and preference is the best trend there ever was. So don’t be pressured into following the latest trends even if you absolutely hate them, just to fit in. What’s important is that you wear what you truly love and be confident in it! Let’s look back at 2022 with not only the popular trends that were loved by everyone but also the things in your closet that were loved only by you. <3
